Company History
9 milestones
Five businessmen founded the Minnesota Mining and Manufacturing Company in Two Harbors, Minnesota with the intention to mine corundum for grinding wheel abrasives. The mineral deposit proved worthless, but the founders pivoted to sandpaper production, relocated to Duluth, then St. Paul, and began developing the proprietary adhesive and coating technologies that would define 3M's future.
